SHOEBACCA.COM got its very humble beginnings when two community-minded brothers started selling used name-brand athletic shoes to underprivileged families at local neighborhood markets. Along with those early grass-roots efforts, they also shipped truckloads of shoes to areas all over the world, primarily to third-world countries where the need was greatest. This became the inspiration for SHOEBACCA.com, and helped set the tone for this new business and outreach program.

Officially formed in 2002, SHOEBACCA.com identified an opportunity to extend its reach by establishing itself as a reseller on eBay. After a number of successful years operating on eBay's platform, SHOEBACCA.com launched a full-scale retail website in the spring of 2008. Within this positive environment employees will be encouraged to grow both personally and professionally.

	An appreciation of nature and a commitment to the environment has always been an integral part of Happy Feet Plus co-founder Jacob Wurtz. Growing up outside of Ottawa, Canada provided Jacob with an exposure to rural life and an understanding of the value of healthy living. After migrating to Florida, Jacob and childhood friend Jane Strong called on that background when they decided to open the first Happy Feet Plus location in 1985. The business was built on offering a Japanese massage sandal and a then little-known German sandal called Birkenstock.
Jacob has continued his commitment to the environment by utilizing environmentally-friendly materials in all of the Happy Feet Plus stores. In 2004 Happy Feet Plus opened the first LEED gold certified retail building in the U.S. Being a "green" business isn't always about saving money - it's about doing what's right for the greater good.

Jane Strong exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit early in life. As young girls Jane and her sister started their own business providing horseback rides at a near-by resort. Graduating with a BA in Psychology from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario Canada, Jane traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East and throughout North America. After reconnecting with Jacob Wurtz, she found herself in Florida and they eventually formed Happy Feet Plus. Currently there are nine stores and a thriving on-line business. Jane has been an active member of the St. Petersburg Toastmasters Club, serving on the Executive Board and as President. She has also been a member of the American Business Woman's Association. In 2007 Jane was named the Business Woman of the Year by the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
